Is JR Suita the same station as Hankyu Suita?
- JR Suita (吹田) is on the JR Kyoto Line, 8 minutes from Osaka Station. This is the one for the older town centre and the Hankyu Bus to Expo Park.
- Hankyu Suita (吹田) is on the Hankyu Senri Line, and connects toward Kita-Senri and Kansai University.
If someone gives you "Suita Station" as a meeting point, ask which company. There is no direct transfer between them and no connecting concourse.

All four are direct local trains (普通) on the JR Kyoto Line, no transfer. If you hold a Japan Rail Pass, these JR legs are covered — the monorail leg to the park is not.

Which station do I use for Expo Park, the stadium and EXPOCITY?
The Osaka Monorail is the only railway that reaches the park. It is a private company — not JR — so a Japan Rail Pass does not cover it.
A route many people miss: from Osaka-Umeda on the Hankyu Kyoto Line to Minami-Ibaraki, then the monorail, costs about 530 yen — around 100 yen less than going via the Midosuji subway and Senri-Chuo, though it takes a few minutes longer.

Journey time and how often it runs are published only as a PDF we could not read, so we are not going to guess at them — check the Hankyu Bus timetable before you rely on it. On a weekday, take the monorail.
One thing to ignore in older guides: the Kintetsu Bus route 100 between JR Ibaraki and Bampaku-kinen-koen has been suspended since July 2024. Blog posts still recommend it. It is not running.
Are there any shuttle buses?
Gamba Osaka matchday shuttle
- From JR Ibaraki Station, west exit, bay 4 to the park, then about a 10-minute walk to the stadium
- 250 yen adult, 130 yen child; about a 10-minute ride
- Runs from about 4 hours before kickoff, home matchdays only, operated by Kintetsu Bus
The club also sells reservation-only return coaches after the match — 1,800 yen to Yodoyabashi/Namba, 1,700 yen to Shin-Osaka/Umeda. These cannot be bought on the day. See the club's access page.
EXPOCITY free shuttle
- From Hankyu Minami-Senri, JR Ibaraki and Hankyu Kita-Senri to EXPOCITY
- Free, but weekdays only (with blackout dates) and Mitsui Shopping Park point members only — you show the card or app to board
- 28 seats per departure, first come first served, running through March 2027

Is Senri-Chuo Station in Suita?
No. Senri-Chuo is in Toyonaka City, even though almost everyone changes there on the way to Expo Park. Senrioka is in Settsu City, and the Ibaraki stations are in Ibaraki City.
How far is JR Suita Station from Hankyu Suita Station?
About 600 metres in a straight line, or roughly a 10 to 15 minute walk. They are separate stations run by different companies with no connecting passage, so check which one you actually want.
How much is the train from Osaka Station to Suita?
200 yen and about 8 minutes to JR Suita on a local JR Kyoto Line train, with no transfer. Kishibe is also 200 yen, about 11 minutes.
Can I take a bus from JR Suita Station to Expo '70 Commemorative Park?
Only at weekends and on public holidays. Hankyu Bus route 21 runs between JR Suita Station and Bampaku-kinen-koen Station for 250 yen, with no weekday service. On weekdays use the Osaka Monorail.
Does a Japan Rail Pass cover the trip to Expo Park?
Only part of it. JR trains to Suita and Kishibe are covered, but the Osaka Monorail — the only railway that reaches the park — is a separate private company and is not covered.
