Where is it? (It is not the Expo 2025 site)
| Venue | Expo '70 Commemorative Park (万博記念公園), Suita City, Osaka |
|---|---|
| Nearest station | Bampaku-kinen-koen (万博記念公園) — Osaka Monorail. Approx. 500 m to the park entrance |
| Second station | Koen-Higashiguchi (公園東口) — Osaka Monorail Saito line. Approx. 700 m |
| Landmark | The Tower of the Sun is visible from the station — if you can see it, you are in the right place |
How do I get there from Osaka, Kyoto or the airports?
| From | Route | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Umeda / Osaka Station | Midosuji subway → Senri-Chuo → Osaka Monorail → Bampaku-kinen-koen | Most common route |
| Namba | Midosuji subway (direct, north) → Senri-Chuo → monorail | Same line all the way to Senri-Chuo |
| Kyoto | Hankyu Kyoto line → Minami-Ibaraki → Osaka Monorail | Or JR to Ibaraki, then bus/taxi |
| Itami Airport (ITM) | Osaka Monorail direct | Underused. No transfers — a genuine shortcut |
| Kansai Airport (KIX) | Train to Umeda or Namba → Midosuji → Senri-Chuo → monorail | Allow 2 hours with luggage |
★ How do I get home after the show?
Options, in order of how well they work
- Walk to Hankyu Yamada station (about 1.8 km, 22–28 min) — a different railway company, so it does not share the monorail queue. Hankyu Senri line connects to Umeda via Juso.
- Koen-Higashiguchi station (about 700 m) — one stop from the main station on the Saito line. Fewer people walk to it.
- Wait out the peak inside or near the park — the crowd thins noticeably 40–60 minutes after the last song. There are convenience stores within 300–500 m (see below).
- Taxi / ride-hailing — expect long waits and surge pricing right at the exit. Walking 10 minutes away from the venue first improves your chances.
- Osaka Monorail to Senri-Chuo — the standard route. Fine if you are not in a hurry, painful if you are.

What is open near the venue? (convenience stores, ATMs, water)
| Distance from venue area | Type | Area |
|---|---|---|
| approx. 300 m | FamilyMart | Senri-Bampaku-koen |
| approx. 465 m | 7-Eleven | Senri-Bampaku-koen |
| approx. 1.0 km | 7-Eleven | Yamada-Higashi 1-chome |
| approx. 1.1 km | FamilyMart | Senrioka-kita |
| approx. 1.2 km | FamilyMart | Yamada-Higashi 2-chome |
Distances are straight-line from the EXPOCITY / park area. Seven Bank ATMs (inside 7-Eleven) and Lawson Bank ATMs are the most reliable for foreign cards. See all 128 stores on the convenience store list or the 3D map.
Coin lockers exist at Bampaku-kinen-koen station and around EXPOCITY, but they fill early on festival days. If you are travelling with luggage, leaving it at your hotel or at a larger station such as Shin-Osaka is safer.
Surviving mid-August heat in Osaka
- Buy water before entering — convenience store prices are a fraction of venue prices, and the nearest store is only a few hundred metres away.
- Japanese convenience stores sell OS-1 or Pocari Sweat (electrolyte drinks) and cheap cooling patches and neck fans.
- The park has mature trees and lawns; shade is available if you move away from the stage fronts between acts.
- Check the live temperature and the sky in Suita on the 3D map — it shows current weather and time of day.
Where should I stay the night before?
| Area | Why |
|---|---|
| Senri-Chuo | Closest hub with hotels. Monorail two stops to the venue |
| Esaka (Suita) | Business hotels, cheaper than central Osaka, direct subway to Senri-Chuo |
| Shin-Osaka | Best if arriving or leaving by Shinkansen |
| Umeda | Most choice and nightlife, but the longest post-show journey |
FAQ
Is this the same place as Expo 2025?
No. Summer Sonic Osaka is at Expo '70 Commemorative Park in Suita, in the north of Osaka. Expo 2025 was held on Yumeshima, an island in Osaka Bay about 25 km away.
Can I use a Japan Rail Pass?
Not for the last leg. The Osaka Monorail is not a JR line, and neither are the Hankyu or Kita-Osaka Kyuko lines. Use an IC card such as ICOCA or Suica.
What time should I leave to catch the last train?
Check the official timetable on the day, but plan to be moving within 30 minutes of the final song if you need a specific connection. Trains in Japan stop around midnight.
Is there anywhere to buy food outside the venue?
Yes — convenience stores from about 300 m, and EXPOCITY shopping mall next to the park has restaurants, though it closes earlier than the festival ends.
Is this the official Summer Sonic site?
No. This is an independent visitor guide focused on access and local logistics. For dates, times, line-up and tickets, always use the official site.
