About this place
Ramen Daio Kishibe Main Store – A Local Osaka Ramen Spot Open Until 3 AM
Located about a 4–5 minute walk from Kishibe Station in Suita, Osaka, Ramen Daio Kishibe Main Store is an old-school local ramen restaurant with a lively neighborhood atmosphere.
One of its biggest advantages for travelers is the opening hours: the restaurant stays open until 3:00 AM, with last orders around 2:40 AM. It is a convenient choice for a late-night meal after sightseeing, shopping, or drinks.
I visited around 10:30 PM on a Saturday, and the restaurant was still about 60–70% full. Some groups were enjoying drinks and food, while several solo diners were eating at the counter. The atmosphere was lively and very local.
The staff were energetic, friendly, and attentive. My order was repeated back to me to make sure everything was correct.
The ramen
The restaurant's signature Daio Ramen has a pleasantly spicy kick.
I ordered spice level 10, but surprisingly, it was not as extremely hot as it looked. Instead, it had a moderate, enjoyable spiciness with plenty of savory flavor. The balance between the spicy taste and the richness of the broth was very satisfying.
However, the soup is definitely on the salty and strongly seasoned side. Even the regular seasoning tasted quite rich, while the stronger version was noticeably saltier rather than simply having a deeper flavor.
Travelers who prefer lighter flavors may want to try the lighter seasoning option.
You can also choose your noodle firmness. I ordered “kata,” meaning firm, although the noodles still felt relatively soft to me.
The regular amount of garlic is already quite strong, so garlic lovers should be happy.
The ramen came with about three slices of chashu pork, which were delicious.
Don't miss the fried rice!
The biggest surprise for me was actually the fried rice.
It is not the dry, fluffy, separate-grain style. Instead, it is moist and richly seasoned, with lots of flavor absorbed into the rice.
Even the small portion included with the set was surprisingly substantial. Honestly, it was good enough that I would come back just for the fried rice.
Ramen and fried rice are a classic combination in Japanese ramen shops, and this is definitely a combination worth trying here.
Gyoza
I also ordered the gyoza (Japanese dumplings) and really enjoyed them. They go especially well with ramen or beer and are easy to share.
Price & portions
The A Set, which includes ramen and fried rice, was about ¥1,595 during my visit.
It is not the cheapest ramen set, but the portions are generous and the meal is very filling.
